Wivenhoe Montessori Community Association (WMCA)
Vision
To establish a mutually beneficial support network between the parents, children, Wivenhoe Montessori and the wider community.
Objectives
- To provide a fun, sociable network of parents to support the nursery and its children
- To allow parents to feel better supported by and connected to the nursery
- To provide a more effective means of information sharing between parents and the nursery
- To raise funds for charities and the nursery; in the case of the nursery, to benefit the children’s experience and learning opportunities
- To establish PR and increase the wider community’s awareness and understanding of the nursery
Structure
All parents of children at the nursery are automatically general members of the WMCA, which means they can get involved at any time they wish and are free to attend the meetings.
The official positions voted in are:
Chair – Lucy Stevens
Treasurer – Katie Duffy
Secretaries – Roy Singh and Richard Willcocks
The WMCA has now gained charitable status. Please note that the nursery itself remains a private company.
What do we need from you, the Parents?
We are obviously keen to have as many committee members as possible, to ensure the committee’s success. However, all parents are welcome to attend the meetings, without having to make a firm long-term commitment. In addition to the meetings, we are keen for parents to volunteer to help with any events from time to time and we would be very keen to hear from you if you would be willing to volunteer on an ad-hoc basis. Please email juicestevens@hotmail.co.uk if you are interested in helping in some capacity.
How do you, the parents and children, benefit?
- Social events to help you get to know other parents at the nursery, in a relaxed and fun environment
- Better means of information sharing between the nursery and parents
- Fund raising for the nursery will directly benefit your children, e.g. new equipment, nursery trips and activities
- Children and parents feel more closely involved with the community in which they live
