Heuristic Play Class

As the child begins to move about, their curiosity about the environment around them  opens up.  Instead of asking ‘what is this?’ as in the earlier class, the child now asks ‘what does this do?’ and ‘what can I do with this?’ We offer an extensive range of materials that will enable the child to explore ‘cause and effect’, carry out simple object categorisation, and expand their sensorial experiences. Increasing their ability to separate from you and play confidently, knowing you are still around for them.

It has often been considered that babies are not interested in each other.  Grouping them together gives us the opportunity to watch their developing social skills, considering each other, starting to understand sharing and turn taking. These skills can be encouraged and supported both by you and our experienced staff as we take time to observe our children, beginning that journey to independence in a calm, loving and quiet environment, helping them to inter-relate with each other.

Our staff will support you and your child through this time, inviting you to join the next class when we believe your child is ready to move up.
